Raw Denim

What is Raw Denim?

Raw denim, also known as dry denim, is denim in its purest form. It hasn’t been pre-washed, treated, or distressed in any way after weaving. Worn from day one, it molds to your body and lifestyle, creating one-of-a-kind fades and wear patterns over time.

Origin & History

Raw denim has deep roots in traditional work-wear, dating back to the late 1800s when Levi Strauss and Jacob Davis popularized durable riveted jeans. Today, it’s prized by denim purists for its authenticity, craftsmanship, and character.

Why Choose Raw Denim?

  • Personalized fades that tell your story
  • Longer lifespan with proper care
  • Sustainable (less water and chemicals used in production)
  • High-quality craftsmanship, often with selvedge edges

How to Care

First Things First: Don’t Wash Yet

We recommend wearing your jeans for at least 3–6 months before the first wash. This allows natural creases and personalized fades to set in.

When It's Time to Wash

Hand Wash (Recommended):

  • Fill a tub or sink with cold water
  • Add a small amount of mild detergent
  • Turn jeans inside out
  • Soak for 30–45 minutes
  • Rinse thoroughly and air dry in the shade
  • Never use a dryer — always air dry

    What to Avoid

    • Washing too often
    • Hot water or harsh detergents
    • Tumble drying
    • Dry cleaning
    • These can damage the fabric and ruin the fade potential.

    Between Washes

    • Spot clean with a damp cloth
    • Hang to air out after heavy wear
    • Some prefer freezing jeans to reduce odor - results may vary

    Shrinkage Warning

Raw denim may shrink 3-5%, on the first wash. Ensure to refer size chart and washing instructions before placing an order.

    Indigo Warning

Raw denim may bleed, especially early on. Be cautious around light-colored clothing, upholstery, or shoes.

    Final Tip

The longer you wear before washing, the better your denim will look. Break them in. Let them fade. Make them yours.

Raw denim is more than just a pair of jeans, it’s a journey. The more you wear them, the better they get.
